Sonoma Splash holds Lifeguard Certifications courses!  Register for an upcoming course and receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years upon successful completion of the course.

Shifts are available 7 days a week between the hours of 5:30 am and as late at 9:00 pm in the summer months. Lifeguards are able to set their availability to work one month at a time.

Applicants must be 15 years of age or older to apply. Under general supervision, performs lifeguard duties, enforces all rules and regulations pertaining to the safety and well-being of visitors and patrons. Perform other tasks as required, which includes basic cleaning of the facilities and rotations into the Front Desk to check-in all patrons.

Lifeguards must have a current certification for Lifeguarding & CPR/AED/First Aid from the American Red Cross. Those applicants without a current certification will not receive an official job offer until certifications are obtained.

DUTIES:

  • Active scanning and patron surveillance, practice preventive Lifeguarding.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations.
  • Recognize and respond professionally to emergencies, provide care, including activating EAP.
  • Perform assigned duties connected with the care and maintenance of the facility so that its kept clean and presentable.
  • Engage and interact tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • The ability to speak English clearly.
  • Fluency in Spanish welcome.
  • Attend and participate in required staff training and in-service drills.
  • Perform other related duties to check-in patrons on the Front Desk rotations, answer phones, open and close the office.

Swim Instructors

Swim lessons are typically offered weekday mornings 10-12 and weekday afternoons 3:30-6pm and Saturday mornings. Additional shifts may be available in the form of private swim lessons.

Applicants must be 14 years of age, authorized to work in the US and pass a background check. 

The ideal candidate has knowledge of basic swim strokes, enjoys working with children and has an outgoing personality to lead groups of children through our curriculum. Instructors will be hired as assistant instructors and trained in Sonoma Splash’s program. Swim instructors will be eligible for a pay increase once they begin to lead swim lesson classes independently. 

DUTIES:

  • Teach children 6 months – 13 years in various swimming techniques. 
  • Engage students in participating in swim related activities
  • Ensure safety of students by enforcing pool rules
  • Follow lesson plans for the 4 levels of instruction and our parent/child program
  • Evaluate student performance and progress and provide feedback 
  • Build trusting relationships with students and parents
  • Put away and organize swim equipment
  • Lead instructors will run classes, and supervise and instruct assistant instructors


Job Type: Part Time

Pay: $18.47-25 per hour

Camp Counselors

Sonoma Splash Camp Counselors with three different leadership opportunities.

  • Splash Camp, with kids grouped ages 5-11 participating in team building activities, active games, crafts, and water time.
  • Junior Lifeguard Camps focuses on ages 9-14, and focuses on introducing necessary skills to become a future lifeguard.This would include physical fitness, health, and nutrition, swimming skills, CPR, and first-aid.
  • Junior Counselor Camp aged 11-14 focuses on leadership, learning, and fun in the pool. Junior Counselors will be trained in leadership skills, swim buddies, and CPR/first- aid.

We also have the opportunity for counselors to participate in Aftercare, a post camp supervised daycare with slightly structured activities, free play, and social growth.

Beginning Age Group Swim Coach

Job Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the head coach develop and implement a comprehensive training program for beginning age group swimmers and skill levels, ensuring the program aligns with the club’s goals and values
  • Conduct regular swim practices, providing instruction on technique, conditioning, and racing strategies
  • Foster a supportive and motivating environment for swimmers to achieve personal and team goals
  • Coach at swim meets; typically one weekend a month
  • Evaluate swimmers’ progress, provide feedback, and individualized coaching to enhance performance
  • Ensure the safety of all participants
