rules & policies

Facility Policies

  • All Pass Holders & Guests must check in at the front desk before using the facility, including all children.
  • No food and drink are allowed in the pool area or in the pool. Please keep food and drink outside the gates.
  • No glass, no alcohol, no smoking, and no drugs are allowed at the facility.
  • No children over 5 years of age are allowed in the opposite genderโ€™s locker room. Family restrooms and changing rooms are available.
  • Lockers are for day use only.
  • No recording devices or cameras are allowed in the water or locker rooms.  Pictures may not be taken at any time inside of the locker rooms.
  • No pets allowed on premises unless it is a service animal there to perform specific service.
  • Please return toys & exercise equipment to the appropriate bins after use.
  • People with bandages, open wounds, sores, or infections will not be allowed to swim.
  • Harassment of Sonoma Splash staff will not be tolerated.  (Harassment includes slurs, jokes, or other verbal, graphic, physical conduct relating to oneโ€™s race, color, sex, religion, national origin, citizenship, age, or handicap.)
  • Abusive, threatening, obscene, or insulting language will not be tolerated.  Violators will be given one warning and then will be asked to leave.
  • Misuse of property and Sonoma Splash equipment is unacceptable. Violators will be held financially responsible, asked to leave, and entry privileges will be suspended.
  • Sonoma Splash is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damage to personal property.
  • Guests and visitors shall abide by the rules and regulations of Sonoma Splash.  People found in violation of these rules may have their entry privileges suspended or revoked at the discretion of the Aquatics Director.

Pool Rules

  • Please shower/rinse before using pools!
  • All swimmers with hair longer than chin length MUST have hair secured in a braid or bun, or wear a swim cap. Caps are available for purchase at the front desk.
  • Recreational swimming in designated areas only.  Lanes are for lap swimming.
  • Lane sharing and circle swimming is required if all lanes are full.  Arriving swimmers must notify the current swimmer in the lane of their presence.  If you are not willing to share, please leave the pool and return when a lane is vacant.
  • Children under 3 years old must wear a reusable swim diaper in the pools. Disposable diapers can be worn under a reusable swim diaper or plastic pants. Both may be purchased at the front desk.
  • Life vests/wearable flotation devices MUST BE COAST GUARD APPROVED. No other wearable flotation devices will be allowed in the pool.
  • Be aware of pool depths at all times. Stay in water depth appropriate to your ability.
  • For your safety, no running, rough play, or chickenfights.
  • No sitting, standing or pulling on lane lines.
  • No throwing children, toys or balls into the air.
  • Kickboards and other swim equipment should be used for its intended purpose only.
  • No personal coaching or outside lessons shall be taught at our facility
  • Do not use starting blocks without the supervision of a certified coach or instructor.
  • No diving in non-designated areas or flips.  Ask a lifeguard where you may dive.
  • Lifeguards will determine if swimmers are water safe and allowed to use the diving board.
  • People using the diving boards are to familiarize themselves with the diving board rules.
  • NO BREATH HOLDING GAMES ALLOWED IN POOLS  โ€“ breath holding can lead to blackout and death.
  • Lifeguards have the authority to enforce any unwritten pool rules at their discretion.

Pool Policies for Children and Parents/Guardians

  • Lifeguards are there to maintain safety for the entire pool area and will not specifically be watching your child. Parents/Guardians are responsible for their children.
  • Swimmers 14+ years old may use the facility without a parent or guardian present.
  • Swimmers under 14 years old must have a parent or guardian present at the facility.
  • Swimmers under 7 years old must have a parent in the pool with them regardless of wristband color.
  • Swimmers 4 years old or younger must have a parent within arms reach while in the pool.
  • Lifeguards will determine if a swimmer is water safe by administering a Water Competency Test.  Swimmers may request a test.  Test Involves: Jump into water, submerge completely, spin around, swim across the pool without stopping (using some form of stroke),  flip onto back to float for 5 seconds and tread water for 10 seconds.
  • Distinctive wristbands will be given to swimmers under the age of 18 when they enter the facility.
Color Wristband Policies  Age
Green Have passed the Water Competency Test and may use any part of the pools, including diving boards when open.  Any age that has passed the WCT
Yellow May use any part of the Warm Teaching Pool or shallow end of the large Competition Pool with a parent/guardian in view. 7-17 years old
 Red Parent must be in the water with the child, either in Warm Teaching Pool or shallow end of Competition Pool. Children under 7 years old
     

Diving Board Rules

  • Swimmers must be determined to be water safe by lifeguards before using the diving board.
  • No running or double bouncing on the diving boards.
  • NO jumping off the side, backwards, gainers, or spinning off the diving boards.
  • No life jackets, goggles, or face masks shall be worn jumping off of the diving board.
  • One person at a time on the diving board.  One person at a time on the ladder.
  • Do not dive until the diving area is clear and all persons have reached the side.
  • Swim to the end of the pool, do not swim under the diving board.
  • Fulcrum should always be at its most forward position.
  • Dive/divers determined by staff to be unsafe may be denied use of the diving well.

STEP 3: Under FILTERS, click on "Programs Groups", then check the "Passes" box
